Stem cell therapy for psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that causes a papulosquamous eruption or rash, meaning red, scaly, itchy patches that can appear mainly on the extremities, scalp, and trunk.

Stem cell therapy is an increasingly requested treatment to combat psoriasis. Its immunomodulatory effects not only help reduce the frequency of outbreaks, but also fight the immune response to prevent future complications.

At Stem Life Clinic, we have a treatment protocol for psoriasis with mesenchymal stem cells, which has been shown to reduce possible complications in the patient and improve the skin´s appearance and health, in addition to reducing the frequency of outbreaks.

What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that causes a papulosquamous eruption or rash, meaning red, scaly, itchy patches that can appear mainly on the extremities, scalp, and trunk.

This disease can occur at any age. Its most common form is the so-called psoriasis vulgaris that arises from a genetic predisposition and environmental triggers such as strep infections, smoking, extreme stress, alcohol use, and obesity.

Signs & symptoms

  • Dry skin lesions known as plaques, which are covered with scales.
  • Rashes or patches of red, inflamed skin.
  • Itchy and sore skin, which may crack or bleed.

Diagnosis

In general, the diagnosis of psoriasis is clinical and only in some cases is a skin biopsy required.

Complications

Psoriatic arthritis, which causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in and around the joints. In some patients the inflammation causes deformity in the joints.Temporary changes in skin color (inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation) where the plaques have healed.Eye conditions, such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and uveitis.

Benefits of stem cell therapy for psoriasis

Psoriasis is related to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, as well as social and psychological stress. Conventional treatments are based on steroids and medications to reduce inflammation, but in addition to not always being effective, they often have adverse effects over time. However, stem cell treatment can regulate the immune response, reduce inflammation, prevent outbreaks, reduce the presence of plaques and lesions without adverse or side effects.
