Alzheimer's disease is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior.
Mesenchymal stem cell therapy has become a promising alternative for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, a neurodegenerative disease for which there is currently no cure.
At Stem Life Clinic, we have a protocol for the treatment of Alzheimer’s with stem cells, which has shown significant improvements by reducing neuroinflammation, eliminating amyloid neurofibrillary plaques, abnormal protein degradation and improving patient cognition, as well as delaying the illness progress.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common progressive neurodegenerative disease in the world. It is characterized by causing cognitive and memory dysfunction, which can slowly progress from mild cognitive impairment and short-term memory loss to severe dementia.
Alzheimer’s is caused by damage to brain cells that prevents them from communicating normally. When this happens, memory, thinking, among other cognitive functions are altered, memory being the first to be affected.
The signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s develop over time. The first are short-term memory loss and mild cognitive impairment, but they get worse over time. Current treatments focus on palliative care for the patient, and timely diagnosis is key to delaying the damage caused by the disease.
Mesenchymal stem cells have the ability to differentiate into neuronal cells, osteocytes, chondrocytes, among other cell lineages; they release signals that decrease inflammatory factors, regulate the immune response, promote neurogenesis in the hippocampus and synapses, among other effects that stop neuronal damage and improve the patient’s cognitive functions.
The use of stem cells makes possible to obtain cells differentiated into neurons or glial cells to create brain organoids that generate new neurons thanks to their self-regeneration capacity, which enables to compensate for the neuronal loss that the patient may have suffered.
